Accusing the Gulbarga University authorities of violating the prescribed evaluation standards, district vice-president of the BJP Yuva Morcha Shiva Ashtagi has urged Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar to address irregularities and corruption in the university.

Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Ashtagi raised concerns over irregularities in the evaluation process and complaints regarding careless evaluation of exam papers.

Citing a few examples, he said that students have been given very low marks in particular subjects but they have been awarded a staggeringly high marks after they applied for revaluation.

He said that some evaluators were awarding marks without assessing the answer sheets thoroughly.

He also said that the university has delayed the process of evaluation for eight months and the authorities are not even uploading marks and other data onto the Unified University and College Management System (UUCMS) portal of the university within stipulated time.

Expressing displeasure over the university relying heavily on contract and outsourced employees for decades, Mr. Ashtagi urged the State government to appoint a permanent Vice-Chancellor and recruit faculties for the various departments in the university immediately.
