A Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus rammed into a roadside food stall in Peenya, northwest Bengaluru, on Friday, leaving one person suspected to be dead and four others injured, according to preliminary reports.
Police are yet to ascertain what caused the accident.
In another recent incident involving a BMTC bus, a schoolboy was critically injured in Jigani near Anekal in Bengaluru Urban district on July 2,after he was struck by the BMTC bus while attempting to cross the roadto board his school bus.
The incident occurred as the school bus was stopping to collect children from the main road. According to eyewitnesses, the boy was rushing across the road in an attempt to catch the bus when he was hit by an oncoming BMTC bus. Bystanders claim the school bus driver failed to stop despite seeing the boy approaching, contributing to the accident.
Earlier last month, aBMTC driver at the Chinnaswamy Stadium signal in Bengaluru allegedly attempted to run over a girl following an argument.The incident occurred on May 23 but came to light only recently after dashcam footage from a nearby car went viral on social media.
The BMTC bus was travelling from Museum Road towards MG Road when the confrontation took place. According to the viral video, the girl stood in front of the bus to stop it, but the driver recklessly moved the vehicle forward, narrowly missing her.
