There is no provision for a farewell speech if a Vice President resigns mid-term, according to sources. Farewell happens only if one completes a full term.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday wished Jagdeep Dhankhar, who resigned as Vice President on Monday, good health and expressed hope that his successor would do justice to the office.
"First of all, I hope for his better health and pray to God to keep the former vice president well and give him a long life. I think this is the first time perhaps that a vice president of the country has resigned in such a manner," Abdullah told reporters at Safapora in Ganderbal district.
"Obviously, his health did not allow him to work further. We hope the next vice president will do justice in a real sense to the chair and the office," he said.
Congress leader Pawan Khera reacted to Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation as Vice President and questioned why there was no farewell speech for him.
"No speech, no farewell. Then how can we say, all is well?" he tweeted.
Reacting to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said, "We are thankful for his service to the nation and the time he has given to the House".
The Union home ministry notified the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar as vice president on Tuesday, a day after he sent a letter to President Droupadi Murmu saying he was stepping down with immediate effect due to medical reasons. In a gazette notification signed by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) reproduced Dhankhar's resignation letter, which he made public on Monday evening.
Both Houses of Parliament have been adjourned till tomorrow as the Opposition continued its protest, pressing for a discussion on various issues.

According to sources, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar collapsed during an official Delhi government program last week, on July 17. Dhankhar, who was visiting Vatika with his wife and Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena, experienced a sudden deterioration in his health and was subsequently helped out of the location. This incident comes amidst floating rumours regarding his health conditions.

According to sources, Jagdeep Dhankhar will not reconsider his resignation from the Vice President's post and will not take the Chair in the Rajya Sabha today. He resigned citing health reasons after consulting with his family. Dhankhar will not deliver a farewell speech.
A meeting of floor leaders from both Houses — the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha — started in the Parliament House complex ahead of the Day 2 proceedings.

Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, JP Nadda, has clarified why he and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju skipped the crucial Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting called by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday evening — just hours before Dhankhar's unexpected resignation. "Kiren Rijiju and I did not attend the meeting convened by the Vice President at 4.30 pm on Tuesday as we were preoccupied with other important parliamentary work. Prior intimation about this was duly shared with the Vice President's office," Nadda said.

Congress MP Manish Tewari on Tuesday questioned the abrupt resignation of the Vice President of India, calling it "a riddle wrapped in a mystery and rolled in an enigma".
"I wish the Vice President a very healthy and long life. However, his resignation remains somewhat of a riddle which is at the moment wrapped in a mystery and rolled in an enigma. Because the abrupt circumstances or the abrupt manner in which he resigned without any attendant circumstances to accentuate it is intriguing for the lack of a better word and while not wanting to transgress and intrude into the health of the Vice President, if it is at all a health issue, it would be helpful that since he holds the second highest constitutional office, if he would shed some light on the circumstances which have left led to the decision," Tewari said while speaking tonews agency ANI.
The process to remove Justice Yashwant Varma began on Monday after MPs submitted notices to the presiding officers of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has taken cognisance of the move.

Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader Akhilesh Prasad Singh has submitted a Suspension of Business Notice under Rule 267, seeking an urgent discussion on the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar ahead of polls.
In his notice, Singh warned that similar revision drives are planned across the country, including in West Bengal, where high migration, displacement, and documentation gaps could leave the poor and marginalised at risk of large-scale disenfranchisement.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Tuesday submitted a notice to move an adjournment motion under Rule 56 in the Lok Sabha, seeking an urgent discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls launched by the Election Commission in Bihar on June 24, 2025.
